A CPF concurrent employment check should start with the wages payable under each actual employment and the CPF Board’s current guidance. Another employer making contributions does not automatically remove this employer’s responsibility. Do not deduct the other company’s salary from your payroll figures using an informal combined spreadsheet.

Identify the employment facts

Record the employer entity, employee, contribution month and wages relevant to that employment. Keep personal information restricted and obtain facts through the approved payroll process. Separate concurrent employment from a transfer between companies.

Confirm the applicable employee status and contribution rates using current official guidance. This checklist does not determine whether a person’s second employment is permitted under a work pass or contract.

Apply the correct scope

CPF Board explains that all employers must pay contributions based on wages payable where an employee has concurrent employments, because the Ordinary Wage ceiling applies per employment. Additional Wage calculations also need their relevant per-employer review.

The Board describes a process through which eligible employees can limit their employee share across multiple employments. Do not apply an assumed adjustment without checking the actual approval and instructions. The employer’s share should not simply be stopped because the employee says the overall ceiling has been reached.

Example: a second employer starts contributing

The employee asks the first company to cease CPF because the second company now pays it. Give payroll the Board’s guidance and establish whether any official instructions apply. Keep the actual employment wages and contribution history intact while the question is reviewed.

Preserve the approved calculation

Retain the applicable wage schedule, current guidance and any official decision relied on. Compare the eventual submission with the approved figures. Resolve differences through the proper CPF process rather than silently netting another employer’s contribution against this company’s amount.
