A consent bearing a former company name needs a document-history check before it is relied on for a new corporate step. Compare the UEN, signing date, name-change records and purpose of the consent. A name mismatch can be a timing issue or a document prepared for the wrong entity.

Establish the identity and timeline
Keep the signed document in its received form. Note the company number, former name, current name and actual date of signing. Check whether the name change occurred before or after the consent was executed.
Use the company’s controlled records and official particulars to confirm the sequence. A familiar logo or matching email domain is not an adequate identity check.
Ask what the consent covers
Give the secretary the document and intended use. Establish whether it concerns a particular appointment, transaction or earlier event. Do not assume a consent remains suitable for a later purpose merely because the company number matches.
The responsible reviewer should determine whether clarification, a fresh document or other action is needed. This guide does not decide the legal validity or continuing effect of an individual consent.
Example: an old template was used after the change
The document was signed after the official name changed but still displays the former name. Preserve the signed version and explain the mismatch to the secretary. Editing the name inside the signed PDF would obscure the original evidence.
Retain the accepted resolution
Link the review outcome and any replacement consent to the original. Record which version is approved for the current task. Keep the historical document available where appropriate without presenting it as a newly signed instrument under the current company name.
